Dr. John Provost is a lifelong educator who is motivated by a simple but powerful belief: that schools are most successful when they provide safe, supportive, and challenging environments where every student experiences a sense of belonging. With over 30 years of experience as a teacher, administrator, and superintendent, he brings a deep understanding of how schools that are guided by clear values, focused on collaborative practices, and committed to the success of every learner can transform students’ lives.

Before coming to the Hampden-Wilbraham Regional School District (HWRSD), Dr. Provost served as Superintendent of the Northampton and North Brookfield Public Schools, as well as Director of Special Services in Agawam and Holyoke. In each role, he has focused on expanding opportunities for students, strengthening equity, and building inclusive school communities.

In the HWRSD, Dr. Provost has worked with staff, families, and the community to advance the district’s Strategic Plan, expand career and vocational/technical education options, and support efforts that reduce suspensions and increase student success. He is committed to working with the entire Hampden-Wilbraham community to ensure that all students are prepared for future success in college, careers, and citizenship.
